Bronx Councilman Calls for Gun Safety Education in Schools

New York Daily News- Last week on Monday, January 18th, an eight-year-old boy suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound while playing with his father’s gun in a Bronx apartment. The boy is expected to survive the incident.

In wake of this news, Bronx Councilman Fernando Cabrera is calling on the city’s Department of Education to teach students about gun safety, particularly the difference between toy guns and real ones. Cabrera is also asking that schools notify parents about the dangers of having firearms in the home.
